Under the Hoodie

My next project is going to be 'Under the Hoodie' from Stitch n Bitch I have waited a long time for John Lewis to start stocking their winter yarns as I have [had!] a voucher from my work colleague for my birthday just waiting to spend.

Well I popped into JL last week for some electronic scales for my cupcakes - after picking myself up from the floor after reading the price I thought I'd amble up to the yarn section.

I believe I may have lost my senses and my mind a bit - I saw some sparkly Rowan Romance, some Rowan Tapestry soy yarn in self-striping colours. I cannot find a nice internet pic of Tapestry but I can assure all of you unable to *touch* it that it is about 300% lovelier in the flesh than any picture on the internet.

I have little recollection of the visit, other than occasionally moaning to myself as new and glorious yarns appeared in my vision. When I came to I had an arm full of Kid Classic and had lost the ability to do the maths required to figure out how much it was going to cost me [I no longer cared anyway]

So my colour choices are;


I think I'll probably go with this as it's so *warm*



or the grey?


or the ice blue?


I have arranged the balls in the stripe order of the jumper.
Whaddya think? I'm still getting the circs I need [my first Addi Turbos - woo!] and have also imposed a restriction on personal knitting until after the 9th September [which is my next stall] as I have iPod cosies to knit...

    I say the warm version, but the ice blue didn't come u on my monitor so maybe it's gorgeous. I can really see you in that hoodie you know. I think that Tapestry yarn looks gorge btw.

    Yep Kathleen - I think my mind is made up with the warm one, it just seems to draw me with its warmth.

    Am getting on with my cosies like a good girl. Having problems with the badges tho due to my iMac biting the dust :( gah!

A bit of culture...

Well we're back in rainy Glasgow, and I think I'm sufficiently recovered from jetlag enough to be able to operate a PC, string a sentence together and complete my Japan blogging. Just in case you thought we'd spent our entire time playing in yarn shops, arcades and eating - a bit of culture was also had. These pics are from the Meiji shrine and surrounding Yoyogi Park. The top pic is a big pond full of koi karp, terrapins and massive dragonflies. We had our lunch there - it was very peaceful and relaxing. The above picture was the dwarfing entrance to the shrine. We walked around the gardens and had lunch but we never visited the shrine itself. Central Park Hoodie

I can't believe it's Friday already. I've been trying to blog this since Monday, but Blogger and a cold have combined forces to make sure that it didn't happen until today. Thanks for comments and emails re; oiled yarn. Sorry I didn't hear you at the SECC Heather - I may have been a little delirious after having bought all that yarn! See this is why I do the SECC alone - I'm utterly unsociable when there are crafty delights all around begging to be purchased. Cheers Heather - I would love to get any help that anyone can give me on yarn goodies to be had in Tokyo, and also to see steeking 'live'. I have finally finished the back, 2 sides and 2 sleeves for Central Park Hoodie. Blocking was required in order to seam the shoulders and join front and back pieces for the hood. Central Park and Apple Meringue

Central Park Hoodie ... the sleeves are blocking ... ... the hood is finished... [not cast off, rather left for grafting later once the ribbing is finished] ... everything I can seam and weave in at this stage has been done ... ...only picking up the stitches along the edge of the right & left fronts and the hood and knitting rib for a few inches to go ... Can you see my problem? Click and enlarge if not ... oh yes. The picking up stitches knitty skill is sadly lacking here. I've been able to wing it with socks, but clearly winging it is just not going to cut it any longer. So I must frog *sigh* You have no idea how long it took me to pick up the exact 150 stitches needed. Frog and consult the knitting tomes in my craft room for help in this area cos I suck at it!
