Chainmail Scarf




Ok - So here's the olde worlde chainmail scarf that the boy has been nagging me for, for ages! Knitted last night [in 1 night!] with R2 rag in grey on size 15mm needles. Plain knit stich.

    Hi, like the look of your handspun. The browny-greeny one reminds me of those chocolate mint sweets you used to get in the big jars in the newsagents.
    Did you sew the sequins on?

    Oh yeah... I threaded the sequins onto lengths of thread and spun them in with the fibre - the thread itself disappears into the fibres.

I've been away for a couple of weeks doing this; Icarus ! My first ever lace shawl, and I have been bitten by the lace-y bug! I've heard the Yarn Harlot speak of the 'magic' of lace blocking , and now I too have experienced the magic ... and it is AMAZING! Cotton Crochet Market Bag

Finished! Pattern: Free - Bernat Cotton Crochet Market Market Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton 3 balls Skills learnt: All of it - brand new to crochet. Modifications: The strap originally went the other way, but I felt tote-style made it lie better - it just felt twisted the other way [see pattern link] I'll be taking this with me to Japan as it expands and therefore can fit lots of yarn. Not an awful lot else to say really... I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Central Park and Apple Meringue

Central Park Hoodie ... the sleeves are blocking ... ... the hood is finished... [not cast off, rather left for grafting later once the ribbing is finished] ... everything I can seam and weave in at this stage has been done ... ...only picking up the stitches along the edge of the right & left fronts and the hood and knitting rib for a few inches to go ... Can you see my problem? Click and enlarge if not ... oh yes. The picking up stitches knitty skill is sadly lacking here. I've been able to wing it with socks, but clearly winging it is just not going to cut it any longer. So I must frog *sigh* You have no idea how long it took me to pick up the exact 150 stitches needed. Frog and consult the knitting tomes in my craft room for help in this area cos I suck at it!
