Went to Waterstone's last night [had an hour to kill until Broken Flowers started at the GFT since I mis-judged the clocks going back...] and bought FRUiTS - Japanese teenagers fashions - it's so so cool!!

Bit disappointed to find I have a copy with duplicated pages so I'm going to have to exchange it - but still got lots of ideas from it ***** <-- 5 stars!

I'll have to get the next one "Fresh Fruits"

    Hey - I think I'm knitting in that shade of NOro just now - a wee shruggy thing. Think I might also be getting a new spinning wheel for the big 4 - 0 at the end of the week.....:0)

Icarus complete!!

I've been away for a couple of weeks doing this; Icarus ! My first ever lace shawl, and I have been bitten by the lace-y bug! I've heard the Yarn Harlot speak of the 'magic' of lace blocking , and now I too have experienced the magic ... and it is AMAZING! [although I had to wear a plastic on my thumbs for the next couple of days after pushing all those pins into the carpet] This shawl chose me - I went to see Sunshine at the cinema [alright, but mince for the last 3rd of the film] and the spacecraft was called Icarus. Random knit-blog surfing after the film found me at Mirum's blog . I love the design - it's Icarus ' frame with the feathers having melted to the ends. Cotton Crochet Market Bag

Finished! Pattern: Free - Bernat Cotton Crochet Market Market Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton 3 balls Skills learnt: All of it - brand new to crochet. Modifications: The strap originally went the other way, but I felt tote-style made it lie better - it just felt twisted the other way [see pattern link] I'll be taking this with me to Japan as it expands and therefore can fit lots of yarn. Not an awful lot else to say really... I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Central Park and Apple Meringue

Central Park Hoodie ... the sleeves are blocking ... ... the hood is finished... [not cast off, rather left for grafting later once the ribbing is finished] ... everything I can seam and weave in at this stage has been done ... ...only picking up the stitches along the edge of the right & left fronts and the hood and knitting rib for a few inches to go ... Can you see my problem? Click and enlarge if not ... oh yes. The picking up stitches knitty skill is sadly lacking here. I've been able to wing it with socks, but clearly winging it is just not going to cut it any longer. So I must frog *sigh* You have no idea how long it took me to pick up the exact 150 stitches needed. Frog and consult the knitting tomes in my craft room for help in this area cos I suck at it!
