Central Park Hoodie Complete!

Central Park Hoodie is complete! I'm just squinting in the sun by the way - I am happy. It was a lovely day in Glasgow today, and we found this fabulous tree hidden away in Shawlands which looked like a great place for a CPH photoshoot. Pattern: Central Park Hoodie from Knitscene Fall 2006. Yarn: Cascade 220 in colour 9430. Started: August 2006 - finished April 2007 Skeins used - about 5 and a bit for size 36. Modifications - grafted the hood rather than 3-needle bind-off for neatness. I found the front side panels to narrow so knat an extra inch of ribbing on either side. If I did it again - I would knit wider front panels, and probably the sleeves for the size up. It was a bit snug but blocking helped. I'm a 32-34 inch bust and I knit the 36. I think I might knit another in the next size up for 'fat' days. Skills learned - buttonholes and picking up stitches [thanks Granny :0) ] A shot of CPH with my newly arrived Gamerchix t-shirt. What's been happening? Well it's been busy, and it's been emotional... In cat news, everything was so very stressful it brought on my first ever cold sore... But all is well for the moment. Injection giving has become routine, and he doesn't even notice anyway as he's wolfing down his food so voraciously! I do the morning shift, and the boy the evening shift. I've learned some important things during my trawling through the web trying to sift useful cat diabetes information from horror stories. from my friend the vet: if he seems fine in himself, don't get stressed about the numbers. from some forum, somewhere: if he's doing the 5 'P's then he's probably fine; preening playing purring pooing peeing There are quite a few people out there absolutely obsessed with blood glucose testing. I intend to do another curve soon, but for now I'm relying on the one I managed to get a couple of weeks ago and another fructosomine test from the vet in a ...

Kites and sites ...

The boy and I are on Easter hols this week, and have decided to be active, and get out and about in Scotland since our RSPB membership cards came in this week. Today we went to Stirling in search of nature. We spotted Hamish the Highland coo in a woollen mill next to Callander, surrounded by 3 coach loads of tourists armed with cameras. He just loved the attention... We also stopped at Aberfoyle (great toilets) and popped up to the David Marshall Lodge . A lovely place with virtually tame birds at the seed hangers and tables; chaffinches, coal tits, siskins etc. Really enjoyable, spoiled only by the completely inappropriate noise-fest that is Go-Ape! (exclamation point part of their logo ... 'nuff said). But the best place we visited was Argaty Red Kites - it was unexpected because we only stopped in as it was on the road we happened to be on.
