Bedtime Bear


Presenting .... : Bedtime Bear! Made for a work colleagues 1 year old little girl.
Pattern: Simply Knitting Magazine, Issue 13 April
Yarn: GGH Amelie [now discontinued, but still available at Loop]
Skills learned: First time making a knitted toy and embroidering onto knitted fabric.
Modifications: None - had to knit blind as I had no idea how it was going to become a bear until nearly sewing up time.


An added label on her bum!



I wanted it to look like the old-fashioned style bears, but with the more modern yarn, and I hope she loves it.

    Awwww, that is so cute! I liked that you used pink thread for the face detail. She'll love it!

    Thank you for my comment on my Summertime Tunic! I wanted to let you know that the straps are actually not ribbon, I actually made my own sort of bias tape out of some fabric I had. I liked the way it turned out.

A bit of culture...

Well we're back in rainy Glasgow, and I think I'm sufficiently recovered from jetlag enough to be able to operate a PC, string a sentence together and complete my Japan blogging. Just in case you thought we'd spent our entire time playing in yarn shops, arcades and eating - a bit of culture was also had. These pics are from the Meiji shrine and surrounding Yoyogi Park. The top pic is a big pond full of koi karp, terrapins and massive dragonflies. We had our lunch there - it was very peaceful and relaxing. The above picture was the dwarfing entrance to the shrine. We walked around the gardens and had lunch but we never visited the shrine itself. I thought I would make a new post to respond to a comment left in my last post. I had posted this: " I'm Scottish, but due to moving around a lot when I was young I have an English accent. I don't like my accent at all - this is not to say that I think there is anything wrong with being English, but I'm Scottish, and it bugs me that I always sound like a visitor to my own country. Central Park Hoodie

I can't believe it's Friday already. I've been trying to blog this since Monday, but Blogger and a cold have combined forces to make sure that it didn't happen until today. Thanks for comments and emails re; oiled yarn. Sorry I didn't hear you at the SECC Heather - I may have been a little delirious after having bought all that yarn! See this is why I do the SECC alone - I'm utterly unsociable when there are crafty delights all around begging to be purchased. Cheers Heather - I would love to get any help that anyone can give me on yarn goodies to be had in Tokyo, and also to see steeking 'live'. I have finally finished the back, 2 sides and 2 sleeves for Central Park Hoodie. Blocking was required in order to seam the shoulders and join front and back pieces for the hood.
